There. I said it. I’m a Martha.
I won’t even try to hide it, you guys. It is what it is. Honestly, there’s no shame. I believe that God gave me a Martha side for a reason. But life is about balance.
Jesus balanced out His life by filling up through prayer and relationship with his Father after pouring out to others.
If Jesus needed to fill back up, how on earth can we be expected to not do the same?!
I certainly can’t be all Martha, Martha, Martha! every minute of everyday, remaining sane and balanced in my relationship with Christ, without channeling some of her sister’s natural traits. Trust me, I’ve tried.
P.S. It doesn’t work well.
Embarrassingly, too often I reach my breaking point before I realize that my inner M&M sisters have been way out of whack in the balance department.
I knooooooow… it’s not always easy. Life is cray, I get it. You’re talking to THE ring leader of the circus-life-crazy-train.
But oh my goodness, how we desperately need our quiet time with Jesus.
Maybe the mere phrase “quiet time” sends shivers down your spine. It’s okay.
Maybe it signals negative connotation and throws your anxiety into full breakout mode, because you just can’t even think about having quiet time with Jesus unless it’s perfect in every way. It’s really okay.
Don’t panic. God sees your heart, honey!
The other good news is that we are seriously not alone, and, we can do this together! I love that we have the privilege to come together and learn from one another as we walk in our relationships with Christ!
My beautiful friend, mentor, and “boss babe” Joanna Weaver is offering a free (yeah girl) live webinar on this very subject, and I think we all need to be there! It’s like a big party where we all get to watch this sweet woman (who is so stinking real) teach us how to cultivate more of that Mary side of our hearts…. all while sitting in our stretchy pants… I’m in!
I’m guest posting on Joanna’s blog today, and sharing about a super fun challenge on Instagram that will bring all of us Mary’s and Martha’s in sync to journey alongside one another.
